How do I block all calls from U.S. area code 901?

I'm a new user who downloaded the app because I'm getting dozens of spam calls from the area code of my previous residence, 1-901(I still have that area as my primary phone number). I don't want to block numbers on my contacts list, and callers can leave voicemails. How do I set this up?

Hi @tsbremer

Just to confirm: do I understand correctly that you want to block all incoming calls from numbers that start with +1901, except numbers that are saved in your contacts?

Yes, I want to block all incoming calls from numbers that start with +1901, except numbers that are saved in my contacts. Do I need to include the country code in my Contacts listings, or will callers in my Contacts without the country code (i.e., with a number beginning with 901) be able to get through? Also, am I right to presume that blocked callers can leave a voicemail? Thank you for your help.

Hi @tsbremer,

I created a cloud list for you that blocks all calls from area code 901 (+1901). You can install it from the app menu. The list name is: block_901

Also, please make sure that Always allow contacts is enabled.

How it works: filters are processed in order, and Always allow contacts has higher priority than Cloud lists by default. So your contacts will still be allowed, while other numbers from area code 901 will be blocked.

No, your contacts do not need to be saved in the international +1 format. The app will recognize them as contacts and handle them correctly.

Voicemail is a bit more complicated. It is a carrier service, and the app cannot control it directly. If you do not use voicemail, the easiest option is usually to disable it. I know many people have it enabled by default but do not actually use it. If you do need voicemail, please tell me your carrier and I will try to suggest what can be done.

I use Verizon, and when I turned on Do Not Disturb, blocked callers could still leave a voicemail. I assume that will also be true with the CallFilter app. I'll let you know if that's not the case. Thank you again for your help.
