[SOLVED] [1.23.5] Send calls to voicemail if not in contacts?

Winfried

New member
Hello,

I just installed CallFilter, and wanted to check that, using the settings below, it does what I expect it to: Only ring the phone if someone's in my Contacts, otherwise silently send the call to voicemail and notify me when someone actually left a message.

FWIW, I also have this option checked (Xiaomi with MiUI stock ROM).

Thank you.

--
Edit: Doesn't work. I called my cellphone from a phone that's not in my Contacts, and the phone rang instead of being sent to voicemail.

With robocalls being such a pain, I'm surprised so obvious a feature isn't readily available in phones.

--
Edit: A call came in and was blocked, with just a text message as notification. It looks like it only blocks calls that were previously reported as spam by other users… which is not what I want.

Hello @Winfried ,

With the default settings, the app only blocks phone numbers that have been previously reported.

But you can extend the functionality:

1. Enable Block everything except contacts in Settings
2. Use cloud list to block calls from other regions.

If you are interested in these features and need help, just let me know.

Thanks. I don't want to block calls from unknown numbers, just 1) send them to voicemail 2) without ringing the phone, and ideally 3) only notifying me if they did leave a message (since spammers and scammers rarely do).

If you have voicemail set up, all rejected calls will be forwarded to it anyway.

If they are not forwarded, enable the Mute calls option. After that, calls will not be immediately dropped and will be automatically forwarded to voice mail after some time.

Thanks.

I don't know the difference between rejecting/dropping/muting calls, but this phone is running Android 9, and the Mute option says it's only available with 10+ anyway, so that will have to wait until I get a new phone.

"After that, calls will not be immediately dropped and will be automatically forwarded to voice mail after some time." : Does it mean it will wait the number of rings set by the cellphone provider until the call is forwarded to voicemail? I think it's pretty long, and some legit callers might hang up before: Is there a way to set the number of rings before the appplications sends it to voicemail?

Using the following settings, even though the number is not in Android's Contacts, the phone still rings when I call from my landline. Closing and relaunching the app makes no difference:

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of older versions of the Android system. Developers are very limited in what they can implement.

Yes, that's exactly what's going to happen. The phone will not ring, but for the caller it will look as if there is no answer. after a certain amount of time, automatic forwarding to voicemail will be triggered.

Using the following settings, even though the number is not in Android's Contacts, the phone still rings when I call from my landline. Closing and relaunching the app makes no difference:

I see that the Block all except contacts function is turned off. This means that the number not added to contacts will be checked by the main app database and if it is clean, the call will go through.
