• After the latest Callfilter.app update, some users may have noticed that Always allow contacts or Block all except contacts was turned off. This was a developer mistake. We’re sorry for the trouble — we did not intend to disrupt anyone’s settings.

If this happened to you, please re-enable the options in Filter priority.
Note: Ignore contacts is now called Always allow contacts.

How do I block robocalls so that I don't even hear them?

I get one or two dozen calls a day from an ever-shifting succession of phone numbers. Sometimes they leave blank voicemails. As a rule, if I do pick up, there is just dead air for 45 seconds then disconnect.

I would like to block these entirely so that they do not ring on my phone. That is really why I got this application. It would do no good to add each number to a block list, because there are constantly new numbers and I don't get calls twice from the same number as a rule.

How do I do this?

Hi! What area codes are these phone numbers? You can block those area codes.

Hm. Thanks, Oliver! But then if I got a legit call from a doctor or someone whose number I don't have in my Contacts, I wouldn't get it at all? What would they hear? Would they be able to leave a voicemail, and would I be notified of it? Otherwise, it does sound like an extreme move in the other direction.

When you receive a call from an unknown phone number, the caller is directed to voicemail and can leave a message for you. If you have this service enabled, of course.
